Every time I think about what has happened my body just shivers with emotions and my eyes well up. To think that what I've been through, my parents and grandparents, today is SO amazing and unbelievable. I remember traveling across the US by car as a child being forced to drive 20-30 miles out of the way in order to find a place that would rent us a room for the night, being denied service in restaurants for not being white, called names, being treated like unwanted stepchildren and, you know many other things. Finally, we're really, really moving past all that. My gawd, this is an emotional time right now. Momentus occasion indeed.

I voted early today. If you can vote early, do it and save time. Early voting is the smartest thing about voting since I can remember. Tuesday's only for voting is just stupid.

Wednesday evening was RefreshMiami held this month at the Yahoo! offices in Coral Gables. We had a large crowd and each time to go to an event I get to meet more of the local internets people. I'm really happy to have that opportunity as most of them are really super people.

I co-hosted an event at Diaspora Vibe Gallery last night, The Power of Email Marketing. It was good but, I think having an example with real content would have provided a stronger case or example of what some of the artists need to do. This is especially true for my friend David who was there. I can't remember the number of times he's sent me an email without a subject line which often ends up in my trash folder. I hope my next few Meetups can be as successful as the last few. OPEN has provided me with enough materials to have the same topics to be easily covered again.

12 July, Miami Design & Wynwood Arts Districts Art Walk gallery openings were a bit dampened by some early rains but, carried on through the evening. The crowds were a bit more sparse than the past few months but, I caught up with a few exhibitions.

First stop was Gallery Diet. Bridget Baker, the featured artist, from South Africa. Baker's practice diversely spans participatory performance, the making of intricate objects, and directing and producing extensive stills and moving photography projects. Gallery Diet is making extensive use of their space for performance based work and, their schedule of previous exhibitions have been good up to this point and, including, the current exhibition.

This was not the only performance/video work of the evening, however. Video DocuArt by Award Winning Film maker Karen Palmer. Ms. Palmer has created a short documentary art-video on Parkour. Parkour is an athletic feat of acrobatic challenges that defy mental gravity. Parkour is known to have an influence on practitioners thought processes they experience a change in their critical thinking skills to help and overcome physical and mental obstacles in everyday life.

In just a few days we're going to have our online phone conference dealing with online marketing. Email marketing is the focus of the call so, here's a little article for advance reading. Any issues you'd like to bring up at the follow-up Artist Entrepreneurs Meetup will be great for discussion.

    Tips For Coding HTML Email:

"For many, designing and coding for emails can become a frustrating task. With so many different types of email clients that each seem to follow distinct standards, many hours can be spent just to figure out what works. Luckily, there are great resources available for reference.

The following list contains both css and html tips to ensure your HTML emails look great when delivered!

    • Great general overview for HTML emails. LINK
    • Campaign Monitor offers an excellent guide to email CSS support that covers both web- and desktop-based email apps. LINK
    • Premailer is a good tool for checking inline CSS in your email template. LINK
    • The Email Standards Project works to improve web standards support and accessibility in email. They have also put together the Email Standards Project Acid Test. LINK
    • A great Flickr group with people showing just how frustrating creating HTML emails for Gmail can be. LINK

Although I was not able to make the opening because of a last minute conflict, I previewed this exhibition a few days ago and, it is a "must see" if there is one.

Art Pick | 'Sympathy for the Devil: Art and Rock and Roll Since 1967':

"The relationship between contemporary art and rock music is explored through more than 100 works by 56 artists and artist collectives featured in Sympathy for the Devil: Art and Rock and Roll Since 1967. The exhibition opens to the public Friday at the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami.

The relationship between contemporary art and rock music is explored through more than 100 works by 56 artists and artist collectives featured in Sympathy for the Devil: Art and Rock and Roll Since 1967. The exhibition opens to the public Friday at the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami. From psychedelic album covers to photographs of bands in action, there's lots of artwork full of movement to view, none more lovely than Robert Longo's large charcoal and graphite drawing on paper, Untitled, from his 1980 Men in the Cities series. But there's more than art to the show, organized by Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art and curated by Dominic Molon. A recording studio set up inside a Plexiglass room offers visitors an hour of free rehearsal time (by appointment). A 'battle of the bands' is scheduled for June 26, July 24 and Aug. 28, among other activities."

Sympathy for the Devil runs through Sept. 7 at MOCA, 770 NE 125th St., North Miami; 305-893-6211; www.mocanomi.org.
